What is Club Sportico?
Club Sportico is a sports business newsletter and community aimed at breaking down the billions of dollars at the intersection of money and sports. We write about this in a serious manner in our day jobs at Sportico. We write about this in a decidedly more fun manner here.
Subscriber will receive one email per weekâa Thursday afternoon newsletter full of business context surrounding the biggest stories in sports, plus the funniest and most confusing things happening in our industry. Thereâs also a weekly news quiz, a chatroom, members-only episodes of the Sporticast podcast, and more.
Who are we?
Eben Novy-Williams is Sporticoâs deputy editor and co-host of the Sporticast. Heâs also an endurance triathlete, amateur treasure hunter and a connoisseur of Hudson Valley breweries (ask for a rec!). Heâs happiest with a fly rod in his hand, far away from crowds, so naturally he lives in Manhattan. He owns no crypto or NFTs, roots for no teams, and is wary of new tech, which makes him an ideal counterbalance toâŚ
Jacob Feldman is a Sportico reporter focused onâyou guessed itâtech and the fan experience. You can find him experimenting with a new VR headset, testing multiview on two screens at once, or giving yet another scores app a try (ask for a rec!âthough expect to instead hear about how none of the options are great). Before Sportico, he wrote features for Sports Illustrated, profiling everyone from Simone Biles to Tony Hawk. He roots for too many teams to count.
Matt Palacio is Sporticoâs Marketing Manager who handles social media, events and everything in between. He is a hoop head through and through, trying to climb his way to the top of the NYC menâs league mountain and trying to cling to any athleticism left from his D3 basketball days. Prior to Sportico, he got his start in sports at the forefront of the NIL industry working with college athletes to grow and monetize their social media presence (setting up TikTok accounts and LLCâs). Yankees. Giants. Knicks. Rangers.
Why subscribe?
There are two versions of Club Sportico. Free subscribers get access to just part of the weekly Thursday email, and none of the community features like the quiz, chat or bonus audio. Free subscribers also wonât receive invitations to join in the Club Sportico funâEbenâs happy hours, Mattâs legendary whiteboard videos, and maybe eventually, Jacobâs super exclusive Club book club (reading is cool, right?).
As a paid subscriber ($5 per month, or $50 per year), youâll get all of that. Youâll also be supporting the creation of the community, and more ambitious features coming in the future.
